2025 Volunteer Awards to Be Presented at Arlington Cares

Arlington, VAVolunteer Arlington, a public-private partnership between the Leadership Center of Arlington and Arlington County, will hold its 9th annual Arlington Cares event on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the NRECA.

This celebration of volunteerism recognizes Volunteer Award winners and people who volunteered for 100 hours or more with an individual organization between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. Ted Oberg of NBC Washington will emcee the event.   

“Volunteers are a necessity in meeting some of our biggest challenges. This annual celebration of volunteerism honors this truth as well as highlights some of our community leaders who are making a genuine difference behind the scenes,” said Lisa Fikes, President and CEO of the Leadership Center of Arlington. “Any community member who is looking to be inspired as well as get connected with future volunteer possibilities is encouraged to join us!”

2025 Volunteer Award Winners

  • Lifetime of Service Award: Dr. Carylynn Larson, Rock Recovery
  • Distinguished County Service Award:
    • Kellen MacBeth, Arlington County Housing Commission, Equality Arlington, NAACP
    • Benjamin Sessions, Clothesline for Arlington Kids
  • Distinguished Corporate Service Award: VHC Health, PathForward
  • Group Service Award: Hospice Flower Team, Capital Caring Health
  • Youth Service Award: Maddy Sleeter, Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail
  • Volunteer Arlington Award: Erika Yalowitz, RISE Mentoring
