Registration Open for Volunteer Arlington’s 9th Annual MLK Day of Service

Arlington, VA – Volunteer Arlington, a public-private partnership between the Leadership Center of Arlington and Arlington County, will hold its ninth annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
This event honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by bringing together community members across Arlington and Northern Virginia to engage in meaningful service.
Registration is now open at volunteerarlington.org/mlk. Lead Sponsors are Amazon, Boeing, and Nestlé.
This national holiday aims to transform Dr. King’s teachings into individual and community action, working towards his vision of a beloved community.
Volunteer Arlington’s partner organizations will offer a variety of volunteer projects at Washington-Liberty High School and additional off-site locations.
”Volunteer Arlington’s MLK Day of Service continues to unite our community year after year,” said Lisa Fikes, President & CEO of the Leadership Center of Arlington. “It’s both a time to reflect on Dr. King’s vision and a call to action for each of us to listen, learn, and serve with purpose.”
On January 19, check-in and a nonprofit fair will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Washington-Liberty High School (W-L), an opening program will be held in the auditorium from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m., and then service projects will begin at W-L at 9:45 a.m. and at other locations at 10:00 a.m.
The first 1,000 people to check in for the event at W-L will receive an MLK Day of Service t-shirt.
During the opening program, Volunteer Arlington will recognize the 2026 recipient of its Beloved Community Award. This award recognizes an individual(s) who embodies Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of building a beloved community, where everyone is cared for absent of poverty, hunger, and hate. Nominations for the award are due by Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Pre-registration is free and preferred. Walk-ins are welcome at Washington-Liberty High School and can join opportunities as space allows. Learn more, and sign up to volunteer at volunteerarlington.org/mlk.
