Leadership Arlington Application

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Senior and executive leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors.  While there are no residency requirements, ideal candidates seek to expand their knowledge of Arlington.

REQUIRED TIME

Leadership Arlington begins with a two day, mandatory Opening Retreat, foundational to the program. The Opening Retreat is followed by monthly program days held from 8:00am to 5:30pm with an elective social hour after. The Midyear Retreat requires an overnight stay.  Participants are expected to attend all scheduled program days and are allowed a maximum of two excused absences over the nine-month program.

In addition to the once-a-month program days, the class will work in smaller teams to research and present their findings on a community related issue. Time outside of scheduled program days is required for team work and is estimated to be an additional 10 hours.

PROGRAM CONTENT

Through the program, participants develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of how the community works, meet with key stakeholders and learn to leverage their networks and resources to support Arlington’s success.  This program is a master class in Arlington, investigated through the lens of the following topics:

  • Economic Development
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Local and State Government
  • Arts and Culture
  • Health and Human Services
  • Public Safety & Justice
  • Education
  • Neighborhoods

TUITION
Tuition for Leadership Arlington is $5,400.

Tuition covers program day materials, meals, retreats and alumni benefits during the program year. Tuition is payable by check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE

Leadership Center for Excellence encourages all qualified candidates to apply to Leadership Arlington regardless of financial status. Leadership Arlington provides scholarships to nonprofit and small business executives.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (Deadline: June 1, 2020, 5:00 pm)

All application materials may be downloaded and completed at leadercenter.org/leadership-arlington.

  • Completed application has been submitted online by 5:00 pm on June 1, 2020.
  • “Statement of Support” has been signed and submitted by the applicant’s supervisor (unless the candidate is self-employed).

If Accepted:

  • Tuition of $5,400 is due July 17, 2020, unless other arrangements have been made with Cynthia Quinn, LCE’s Accountant.
  • Commitment to program requirements including attendance at the mandatory Opening Retreat, September 17 & 18, 2020.

Leadership Center for Excellence will notify all applicants of their acceptance status by June 12, 2020.

Statement of Commitment: I understand the mission of Leadership Center for Excellence. If selected, I acknowledge the time commitment (including attendance at the mandatory Opening Retreat) and will pay tuition by July 17, 2020. If I am unable to comply with the requirements, I will voluntarily withdraw from the program. I understand that in the interest of the class experience for all participants, any participant may be removed from the class if, in the opinion of Leadership Center for Excellence, that participant’s conduct is not conducive to the work of the group. I further understand that tuition is not refundable in whole or in part.
